Trading and travelling – Route 66 road trip

0

It will be untypically, because not about trading but about the travel. Me and two of my friends (all traders) went on a trip to USA. More than 20hrs on plane, but was worth ๐Ÿ™‚ As I promised I will post a short travel stories. We started on Monday evening and after about 24h we were on the place. Las Vegas rocks, it is amazing. But it may be overwhelming. Certainly it is worthwhile visiting, because it changes diametrically when it’s getting dark ๐Ÿ™‚ Main reason for me was Traders4aCause conference in Vegas and some meetings with my business partners. But meanwhile also travelling! ๐Ÿ™‚ …and GREAT road trip on Route 66.

Fly

Due to the period in which we were driving and the fact not to overpay for a normal flight โ€“ we have chosen the most optimal route for both flight and expense. If somebody is planning, I will present an example: flight from Wawa (through Frankfurt, Toronto) to Vegas, return from New York to Warsaw (indirect flight to Vienna) โ€“ it is cost about PLN 3000.

We flew at about 11pm to Vegas, but up to 4am we were having fun. I was suffering from jetlag, so it took me a few days to feel better.

Internet

I wasnโ€™t there yet, and I already had questions โ€“ what about the connection. Basically it is ok, but often disconnects โ€“ particularly using Wi-Fi. As for now, we didnโ€™t trade, and probably it wonโ€™t change. Simply no time on trading ๐Ÿ™‚

Vegas by day

Everything in one place โ€“ Paris, Venice, pyramids and mini stadiums! As Pole who likes to walk, on the first day we were walking so much that legs had enough and required rest to go farther ๐Ÿ˜‰ I was surprised that people outside the centre, generally speaking, don’t walk, everywhere they go by cars. Maybe thatโ€™s why a large part is simply fat. In several hours of march, during which the only persons who we met and didn’t go by car โ€“ were homeless.

On the first day we celebrated my birthday, in fact we have extended it to another day ๐Ÿ˜‰ It was great (Anna didnโ€™t got married โ€“ don’t worry ;)).

Traders4aCause Conference

Absolutely wonderful! I met traders who I observe for years via Twitter and I respect. Above all, I was surprised with their openness and the fact that they were able thanks to a few sentences to change a few things in my perception of opening the position โ€“ I cared about it the most. Learning from the best gives you the most.

Great tribute to a few persons: Monaco_Trader, Greg Sciabica (lx_21), Monaco_Trader and TheDaytrade. There were not only great presentations, but also conversations during and on parties. I have always repeated it on DayTrader Event โ€“ sometimes one sentence is able to change a lot in our perception.

Very good idea to start up with golf; I played for the first time, probably as the only one from the entire team. But it was fun. The team from CenterPoint Securities helped me to start on the field. The views were spectacular.

Saturday and Sunday โ€“ it were already lectures/presentations typically trading. I was very happy I came there. It was worthwhile. Admittedly, as they write Sunday lectures still last ๐Ÿ™‚ Itโ€™s a great initiative with part of profits from the entire Event, which will be used for charity activity. In principle, from the beginning itโ€™s just like that.

Below I present photo from the presentation of Greg lx_21. Hehe itโ€™s a good quote:

Whatโ€™s next

Today we are going farther our route. In the afternoon we rent a car and on Route 66, Grand Canyon, to see where Pamela Anderson with a crew ran on the beach in the Baywatch, where Brandon played in Beverly Hills ๐Ÿ˜‰ There will be many attractions.

Road trip on legendary Route 66 came to an end. Revelation, I recommend to all ๐Ÿ˜‰ Today I will describe the route, which we overcome after leaving Las Vegas. Behind us about 4000 km. For those who during holidays donโ€™t like to sit on asses, but rather spend this time actively โ€“ that what I will describe can be a good idea for own expedition.

We are going on road trip ๐Ÿ™‚

We left Vegas in the evening. I immediately after the Conference, but my friends still had a chance to join a pool party with Dan Bilzerian in Wet Republic :)) They had real fun ๐Ÿ™‚

In a rental waited for us Mustang Convertible. However, right after take-off it turned out that it had something injured. Well, it happens sometimes, we took Camaro. Itโ€™s also a good car, but mustang clang is better.

Start and after 11pm we were in Seligman, itโ€™s a small town. There began in principle the Route 66. Climatic town, full of old cars, like in westerns ๐Ÿ˜‰ Itโ€™s a historical city on the Route 66. In every corner there were signs reminding of the legendary route. Lots of old cars, from which largely are not probably running, but the views were amazing.

From Seligman a next destination was Grand Canyon. On the way we stayed in different towns. It has a charm, especially when the weather is perfect; you pass places when the wind blows your hair in convertible.

Grand Canyon was sensational โ€“ enormous area. Itโ€™s impressive. A few hours we were waking, and we took some photos. Over the area a lot of helicopters fly โ€“ it is possible to buy such a trip, as who likes. I don’t like to fly, so I wasnโ€™t especially to it.

On the next day we headed along the Grand Canyon in the direction to Page town. There we made a trip to Antelope Canyon. It was fantastic; paradise for photographers.

Then, Horseshoe Bend; itโ€™s a large piece of stone ๐Ÿ˜‰ We didnโ€™t have time, but interesting was also a trip through Powell Lake. Maybe next time ๐Ÿ™‚

Going farther we visited Elephant Feet to reach Monument Valley. It was a next place on the route. We have been there a couple of hours. Camaro with low suspension manage to get there. Generally, I recommend you to go there โ€“ itโ€™s incredible ๐Ÿ™‚

Views like from Breaking Bad โ€“ for sure there was made mete ๐Ÿ˜‰

From there a next few hours on the route and we reached Holbrook. Accommodation in wigwams OK, we took cool photos. At night a small party with local Native Americans in the only opened pub. It was local really great โ€“ with old-school cars in front of wigwams. Wigwam โ€“ from the outside as from Native Americans, but from the inside it was standard motel room, but has its climate.

Route 66 quite riddled and not always the old route is possible to get everywhere… :)) so the express route was useful. We reached LA.

Generally, the media has built an image of great city i.e. LA. But what I could see in TV, newspapers, TV series, movies โ€“ it is not in reality. For me the biggest disappointment was the entire route; mess, dirt, stink and really a lot of homeless. Of course, not to generalize; there are also beautiful districts in Los Angeles. However, it confirmed me in the belief โ€“ that USA instead of cleaning up in other courtyards, they should start with themselves, because there is a lot to do.

But I have my snapshot in front of Hollywood sign ๐Ÿ˜‰

We took a tour in Warner Bros. it was drama ๐Ÿ˜‰ Unless somebody likes to see buildings in which they make films. An only plus was a pub from โ€˜Friendsโ€™ where it was possible to take some photos and a few other stages; room with cars, with motors from โ€˜Batmanโ€™; or stages concerning Hobbits and Gandalf, etc. From the entire tour it would be enough to cut 5-15 minutes and it would be OK. Well, unless not for Americans from our group, who at the sight of parking space of the known actor, made large WOW and photos.

Santa Monica โ€“ especially in the evening ๐Ÿ™‚ Itโ€™s such a party place, full of pubs, restaurant and shops. There are gigantic and wide beaches, which you probably know well from the movies. However, in the movies aren’t shown homeless wandering around and tents in which they camp.

Beverly Hills โ€“ splendor and wealth; very rich district! I didn’t met Brenda and Brandon โ€“ probably they lived on outskirts hehe. From the wealth some are so crazy that they even buy yellow RR.

By the way, in LA is terrible smog. From LA we went in the direction of San Francisco.

On the way sensational:

  • Malibu

  • Santa Barbara

At once on the beach in Malibu I reminded TV series โ€˜Two and a Half Menโ€™ ๐Ÿ˜‰ Generally, there are really expensive houses on this beach, but worth the money.

And we were in San Francisco. Itโ€™s a number one :)) I could even move here. Iโ€™m not surprised that it is the most expensive place in United States when it comes to the cost of living. Simply it was great as for me. Itโ€™s clean, small streets, pubs and bars.

Of course, known from โ€˜Golden Gateโ€™ movie

On the way, we went to visit our friend Marek Z. In fact, he wasnโ€™t home ๐Ÿ˜‰ Google Campus is gigantic. In Silicon Valley I visited my cousin, whom I didn’t see probably from 18 years, and it turned out that she had moved to the USA a few weeks before my arrival. Great ๐Ÿ™‚

From San Francisco, we headed back to Las Vegas in order to leave the car there, change it to the plane and to move on in our expedition. About it in the next section; I will also describe, according to requests, which I received on e-mail, as to the matters of costs of such expedition.

After warm and fantastic California, as well as very interesting Road Trip through Nevada and Arizona โ€“ we went from Las Vegas to Chicago. Before us the final stage of our expedition. Generally, Iโ€™m not some fan of large cities, and therefore this part of expedition was least excited for me haha. But it doesn’t mean that it wasn’t worth.

Trump and Clinton ๐Ÿ™‚

Before take-off, we went for a moment to Vegas, in order to return the car and in plans we had still something fun to do (for a while I even thought about the show of Blue Man Group, but eventually it would be hard to get with your flight). Due to the fact that to the city at the last debate come Trump and Clinton โ€“ for quite a while the streets were blocked. And it was necessary to sit on our butts, awesome. Generally in the USA I liked that it is not like in Poland โ€“ millions of billboards, leaflets and other shit on every corner. If not for TV, I wouldn’t even know that elections are coming.

And so we waited until kindly they let us go ๐Ÿ™‚

Chicago

We reached Chicago after 4am. Hour in subway and we were in the hotel. Basically after sleepless night, a few hours of nap was very helpful and we went on a tour. It was sluggishly, because windy and rainy. After over 2 spent weeks in a great weather, it was unpleasant twist ๐Ÿ˜‰

We walked all over the city, and took some photos. Certainly, there are completely different views than in Katowice. Skyscrapers are impressive.

In the afternoon I went to the meeting to Sterling Trader office (i.e. platforms on which I trade and I offer through RemoteDayTraderGroup.com). Along with the chairman Jim Nevott we had a very nice meeting. I will admit that it is great to keep so good relations with the partner, which is Sterling. On the DayTrader Event in Poland I usually host a founder, Steve Sierszulski, and the last time also Jim. After the meeting in the company, we went to the city, where we had a great time haha ๐Ÿ˜‰

New York

In New York even bigger skyscrapers. Peculiarly the panorama of Manhattan was very impressive.

A photo posted by Tomek (@tomekprzybycien) on

We stayed right near Central Park. Well, I don’t know, I was looking for โ€œGod knows whatโ€:) and it is simply a quite big park. As my Chorzรณw park ๐Ÿ™‚ What these movies do with our imagination :).

Okay, but whatโ€™s important we went to Wall Street. NYSE building โ€“ disfigured with terrible Snapchat poster ๐Ÿ˜‰

A photo posted by Tomek (@tomekprzybycien) on

The Bull on Wall Street โ€“ well, unfortunately each time in a day we came across, there were crowds of people. So up to photos itโ€™s so-so. We came during the evening, when no one was there. At least we could ride the bull and touch balls for luck ๐Ÿ™‚

A photo posted by Tomek (@tomekprzybycien) on

The Square Times during the evening lighted with advertisements to the max. But I liked there.

A photo posted by Tomek (@tomekprzybycien) on

Generally, there is a great transport in New York and Chicago โ€“ subway is a main transport. In New York we went on NHL. I played NHL passionately in the 1990s. It was amazing to see live, especially fighting :))

Summing up

This way my trip to the United States ended. I highly recommend โ€“ views first class. As a matter of fact, just like everywhere where are different architectures, climate and wonders of nature. The greatest surprise at the minus for me is Los Angeles and the level of social stratification and the number of homeless, which was really enormous.
